Missoula is "a heady place - full of outdoorsy intellectuals who enjoy contemplating the west almost as much as they love playing in it" - National Geographic Adventure Magazine

Missoula's moniker "The Garden City' was earned as a result of its mild winters in comparison to other Montana locations. Missoula is located on a former glacier lakebed which is now traversed by the Clark Fork River.  On the southwest corner of the city, the Bitterroot River feeds into the Clark Fork.  The Blackfoot River meets the Clark Fork on the east end of Missoula.

Missoula has a mix of outdoor adventures - hiking, biking, fishing, rafting, kayaking, cross-country and downhill skiing, hunting, horseback riding - and all are within minutes of the city's center.  And there's no lack of culture for the literate and the interested.  For all ages, a vibrant Arts community, historical sites and historical societies, book stores, and community groups thrive in Missoula.  Site of The University of Montana and the USDA Forest Service Northern Region, the city and surrounding communities are home to famous authors, artists, musicians, politicians, and cowboys.

The gateway to the Glacier Country region, Missoula is just three hours south of Glacier National Park, and 3-1/2 hours west of Yellowstone National Park. Surrounded by national forests and wilderness areas, Missoula is the favored site to disembark in order to visit the rest of Western Montana.

Ground Transportation: Transportation options are many and easy to arrange.  Missoula International Airport's Terminal tenants include several rental car companies, taxi companies, and shuttles.   Missoula's Mountain Line Public Transit Bus also serves the Airport's travelers.
