April 21 2007, MSO - The weather was perfect, the food even better, as the General Aviation Steering Committee held it's second GA Barbeque at Missoula International Airport.
Over 35 people and one dog turned out at the R. Preston Nash Museum of Mountain Flying to discuss new general aviation hanger development opportunities at MSO.

Welcome to the MSO GA Steering Committee Page
 Who Are We? The General Aviation Steering Committee is an informally organized group of Missoula GA pilots who share an interest in MSO. The current goal of the Committee is to facilitate the construction of more general aviation hangars at the airport. Groups of 5-15 pilots have gathered at meetings to review Airport documents and policies that have needed revision before hangar building can proceed.
Two documents have been the focus of the Committee; 1) General Aviation Rental Lease Agreement, and 2) Missoula International Airport Primary Guiding Documents.
Input from the Steering Committee has been received and considered by the Airport Authority during revision of the documents. The Lease Agreement has been revised and accepted by the Authority. The Primary Guiding Documents are in the final stages of review.
An example of the type of issue the Steering Committee has dealt with during review of the documents is the policy regarding the use of a GA hangar. Originally, the Lease Agreement and Guiding Documents stated that the ground leased from the Airport could be used “…only for the placement of an airplane hangar and the storage of airplanes and no other use.” Pilots and the Airport Authority agreed to change this provision to allow pilots to store other things in their hangars, do regular FAA-mandated maintenance as defined in the FARS, and fabricate “home built” aircraft. The revised Lease Agreement reads: “The hangar will be used primarily for the storage of airplanes.”
