Are you planning on flying into Missoula International Airport sometime soon? Maybe this is the first flight into MSO? If so, we'd like to welcome you. This page will help you get acquainted with our airport's features, businesses, and benefits.
Location and Runways - Missoula International Airport is located 4 miles northwest of the City of Missoula just south of Interstate 90 and Highway 10 West. The airport has two runways. Primary runway 11-29, is 9,501 x 150 feet. Runway 29 is equipped with runway end identifier lights (REIL's) and a 3.0-degree precision approach path indicator (PAPI). Runway 11 is marked as a precision instrument approach runway and is equipped with a MALSR approach lighting system and a 3.0-degree PAPI. 11-29 has high intensity runway edge lights and distance remaining markers. Runway 11-29 has a full-length parallel taxiway.
Runway 07-25, which is the VFR crosswind general aviation runway, is 4,612 x 75 feet and is equipped with medium intensity runway edge lights.
Tower & Rotating Beacon - The Missoula Air Traffic Control Tower is located on the north side of the field at the passenger terminal. The airport's green and white rotating beacon is located on top of the tower.

Aircraft Services and Fuel
Upon landing, MSO has two fixed base operators to choose from. Just one note, if you are unsure which FBO to go to, our air traffic controllers are unable to make a reccommendation or provide you with current fuel prices, so be sure to check ahead of time. Both FBO's are able to provide transportation to and from the passenger terminal and the Airport Restaurant and Lounge. Local hotels are happy to provide shuttle service to the airport and our FBO's.
Northstar Air Express - Northstar is a Phillips 66 fuel provider and is open 24 hours a day. Northstar is located on the east side of the airport just off the approach end of Runway 25, and is also accessible from Taxiways Alpha and Delta. Northstar provides ample ramp space for tie-downs, as well as heated hanger space capable of accommodating a Bombardier Global Express. Jet A and AV100LL is available. Additional services include oxygen service, aircraft deicing, flight training and aircraft rental, and maintenance. Northstar can be contacted by calling (406) 721-8886, or by unicom 123.30.
Minuteman Jet Center - Minuteman is an Exxon Mobil Avitat fuel provider and is open 24 hours a day. Minuteman is located on the north side of the airport, west of the Missoula air traffic control tower. Minuteman is accessible via the terminal ramp or taxiway Golf. Minuteman offers tie-downs and heated hangers capable of accommodating aircraft up to a Gulfstream 4 or a Canadair Regional Jet. Jet A and AV100LL is available, as well as oxygen servicing, aircraft deicing, flight training and aircraft rental, and maintenance. Minuteman can be reached by calling them at (406) 728-9363, or by unicom 122.95.
Aerotronics of Missoula - Aerotronics represents leading aviation manufacturers including Bendix/King-Honeywell, BF Goodrich, Garmin, Bose, UPSAT, Trimble, Magellan, STEC/Meggitt, Flight Com, David Clark, Shadin, Insight, Light Speed, Vision Micro Systems, Century, Narco and others. Aerotronics is located on the east side of the airport near the approach end of Runway 25. Aerotronics can be contacted by calling (406) 728-7830.
Time to Have Some Fun!
Now that you've landed safely and tied your plane down at one of our FBO's, you ask the lineman "What is there to do in Missoula?" Hey, they do a great job taking care of your plane, so instead, why not let us give you a tour of Missoula.
Lodging - First, you'll need a place to stay. Missoula has over 40 local accomodations to choose from. From cozy bed and breakfast's to the big new Hilton Hotel and Convention Center, you and your family are sure to find what you're looking for while visiting the Garden City. One hotel is located directly accross from Missoula International Airport, and many offer free shuttle service to MSO. Transportation - Mountain Line provides regular bus service within the Missoula metropolitan area, as well as to the Airport. Buses operate from 6:45 a.m.-7:15 p.m. Monday through Friday, and 9:45 a.m.-6:15 p.m. Saturday. Buses don’t operate on Sundays or on holidays. The basic fare is 85 cents. People age 60 and older and mobility-impaired individuals can ride for 35 cents. Youths ages 18 and under may ride for 25 cents.
For current schedules and holiday closures, call Mountain Line at 721-3333 or visit its Web site at mountainline.com. Mountain Line buses can carry up to two bicycles on racks. Bicyclists will be served on a first-come, first-served basis. The bus fleet is 100 percent Americans with Disabilities Act wheelchair-accessible.
Several hotels offer shuttle service to and from the Airport. In addition, the Airport Shuttler provides service to and from any location in the Missoula metro area. You may contact Airport Shuttler at (406) 543-9416. Yellow Cab is also available at (406) 543-6644.
Many attractions around town are within walking distance of hotels and restaurants. Also, you'll probably notice Missoula has more bicyclists than any other place you've visited. Missoula has an established trail system for bikes and pedestrians, and many city streets and thoroughfares have a separate bicycle lane that is marked with white diamonds painted on these lanes.
Shopping - It used to be Missoula residents would travel to other cities to shop. Today, the tables are turned. Missoula is a shopping Mecca. Missoula's downtown is lined with specialty shops and family owned stores, bistro's and coffee shops. Missoula's downtown is within walking distance of the Clark Fork River, Caras Park, and the Carousel. During the holidays, the downtown is transformed into a winter wonderland for people looking for that perfect last minute gift.
On the south side of the city, you'll find Wal-Mart, K-Mart, and a multitude of shops, restaurants, hardware stores and electronics stores. Located in the center of the city, Southgate Mall offers over 100 stores, including JC Penny, Sears, Abercrombie & Fitch, Dillard's, GNC, Subway, and much more. Ample parking is available, and Mountain Line bus provides service to the mall every fifteen minutes.
On the north side, you'll find the North Reserve Shopping District located between Mullan Road and Interstate 90. As one of the largest commercial shopping centers in the region, you'll find Home Depot and Lowe's, Costco, Walgreen's, Old Navy, REI, Super Wal-Mart, Best Buy, Staples, Pet Smart, and Barnes and Noble. North Reserve also has several malls, grocery stores, restaurants and fast food establishments, convenience stores, hotels, and convention centers. As always, Montana has no sales tax.
Recreation and Leisure - That's why you're really here, right? Missoula has so many things to do, we can't possibly list them all, but here's just a few to start with: Biking, camping, fishing, golfing, Grizzly Sports, hiking trails, rafting, skiing & snowboarding, snowmobiling, x-country skiing, swimming, skateboarding, waterskiing, SCUBA diving, boating, baseball, tennis, dog shows, car and boat shows, Street Jam, Out to Lunch, Downtown ToNight, Caras Park, the Carousel, the Riverbank Run, hang gliding, flight training, museums, symphonies, and so much more. Missoula is just a few hours from Glacier National Park, Flathead Lake, and the Mission Mountains. For campers, the Bitterroot and Lolo National Forests are right in our backyard.
Missoula is the home of the University of Montana and the Championship Grizzly football team. Griz games regularly draw crowds in excess of 20,000 fans to Washington-Grizzly Stadium. For baseball fans, the Missoula Osprey baseball team is a minor league franchise of the Arizona Diamondbacks. Playball Missoula is currently putting the finishing touches on their brand new stadium located along the banks of the Clark Fork River.
For the kids, Missoula recently finished the construction of several brand new public swimming facilities, including Splash Montana Waterslide Park, Currents, and four new splashparks located throughout the City. For teens, Missoula Parks and Recreation offers courses on rock climbing and rope techniques, kayaking, rafting, and triathalon training. Organized youth sports include hockey, baseball, soccer, basketball, volleyball, and more. Missoula has an integrated trail network located throughout the city, so why not take the kids for a bike ride around the Garden City.
