SEPTEMBER 2012 PASSENGER NUMBERS
BREAK ALL-TIME RECORD
MSO commercial numbers up year-to-date

MISSOULA, MT. (October 17, 2012). Airport Director, Cris Jensen, has just announced
“The Missoula International Airport’s September 2012 passenger numbers were higher than any other September in the Airport’s history. In addition, year-to-date, we are experiencing another record-breaking year in total passenger numbers.”

According to recently released Airport Operations Reports, the total number of passengers flying through MSO in September 2012 was 53,852, which represents a 9% increase over the previous record of 49,412 set in 2010. Year-to-date the total number of passengers flying through MSO is 462,464. The previous high, for the same time period, set in 2011 was 447,493.

Jensen added, “MSO is having a banner year, but based on trends over the last five years, the fact that we maintain this upward pattern is a solid indicator of continued growth in air travel in and out of Missoula. We are currently working on the Airport’s terminal expansion plan to address the growth and are continuing conversations with airlines regarding adding more air service.” Jensen explained “Adding more air service lowers fares for the business and leisure traveler. To that end, we’re working with Missoula Economic Partnership (MEP) who is involving the community in the airline recruitment effort.”

MISSOULA INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT
SEEKS TO ESTABLISH
INTRASTATE AIR SERVICE NEED

The Public is urged to give comment

MISSOULA, MT. (October 5, 2011) Missoula International Airport announced today a request for the public’s input in regards to intrastate air service.
Cris Jensen, Airport Director, stated "One of the more requested air service enhancements we’ve received from the community has been instrastate air service, specifically to Billings, Montana." Jensen added "Due to the high volume of requests, we’re asking for the public’s assistance."
In order to attract a quality regional airline to serve Missoula, specific data and a level of community support must be established. To that end, the general public and the business community are invited to participate in an on-line survey. The brief survey’s results may aid in recruiting a regional air carrier, and provide information that will aid in their decision-making process.

MISSOULA INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT
ANNOUNCES RUNWAY CLOSURE DATES

Taxiway ‘G’ Reconstruction Project Planned

MISSOULA, MT. (June 24, 2011) Airport Director Cris Jensen announced today upcoming Airport runway closure dates. Missoula International Airport Runway 11/29 will be closed beginning Tuesday, September 13, 2011 at 9am and will remain closed until 9pm on Wednesday, September 14, 2011. The closure will affect all commercial and private air travel.

Jensen added “We regret any hardships that the closure dates may cause the traveling public, but the safety and security of our passengers is always our first priority. Taxiway ‘G’ will be widened from 40 ft. to 75 ft. to meet Airport Design Group’s recommended standard C-IV. The width will allow MSO to accommodate
any size airplane and will help to expedite commercial aircraft exiting
Runway 11/29.”

Taxiway ‘G’ intersects Runway 11/29, the Airport’s primary commercial service runway.

The Airport does not receive local tax dollars. Projects at Missoula International Airport are funded by federal grants, Passenger Facility Charges, or Airport reserves, or a combination thereof. Currently four airlines, Alaska, Allegiant, Delta, and United, have operations at Missoula International Airport. Nonstop flights are offered to ten destinations: Alaska Airlines recently added a direct flight from Missoula to Portland, Oregon. For more information, visit www.flymissoula.com.

MISSOULA, MT. (June 1, 2011) Airport Director Cris Jensen announced today a collaboration between Missoula International Airport and Hellgate Elementary, their neighboring school district. Throughout the coming year, Hellgate Elementary students will have an everyday presence in the Missoula International Airport. Jensen stated “We’re extremely pleased to be able to showcase the tremendous student talent and the commitment to excellence in education that Hellgate Elementary provides.”
“The presence”, according to Airport Marketing Manager Leslie Wustrack, will be “a display of artwork in a variety of forms – art, science, math, and culture. The first display will be Hellgate Elementary’s 8th grade mask-making.” Forty-one students, out of a field of 150, were chosen to display their masks for the inaugural presentation. Wustrack added “We’ll unveil the installation tonight with an Open House Celebration.” The Airport has invited all forty-one students, their families, Hellgate Elementary’s staff and Board of Trustees, and the Airport’s Board of Commissioners, to the Celebration on Wednesday, June 1, from 5pm-7pm.

"We’re honored to partner with the Missoula International Airport to promote the ‘Education in the Arts’ program which encourages young artists to produce and proudly display their individual works of creative expression through art" stated Douglas Reisig, Ed.D., Superintendent.

The Airport is the largest open public space in the region. Wustrack said “We’re thrilled to be able to work with Dr. Reisig and his staff. A huge thank you goes out to Morrison-Maierle, Inc., consulting engineering firm, for sponsoring the display.” The public is invited to view the display. The masks are located pre-security in the Airport Terminal West Lobby.

The mission of Hellgate Elementary is to provide an educational learning environment that supports and sustains academic achievement, academic excellence, and life-long learning for all students. This learning environment is child-centered in its focus and is supported by a caring and involved community. Superintendent Dr. Doug Reisig was awarded the prestigious G.V. Erickson Award for Education in 2010.
